I can't believe that anyone would try to make the argument that "The cops dogs attack us all the time and are allowed to, it’s not fare that our dogs can not attack back".

Besides the obvious points of K-9 units being well-cared for, well-trained, and up to date on veterinary care, there is also the fact that K-9 units do not attack innocent people on the street.

Has this attack only become an issue because it attacked a police officer (and we all know they can't do anything right, can they? If they had ignored the dog and continued on, it might have attacked someone else, and then everyone would be asking why the police didn't do anything about an obviously viscious dog)? What if the dog had been startled by a 3-year-old? The child would have been mauled. Would anyone question its being put down then?
